Fun in the Florida Sun
Over Martin Luther King Jr. weekend, I took a trip to Orlando with my fiancé Andy and my parents. We also made a stop in Tampa to visit a very special steakhouse that my grandparents used to take my Dad to.
Catching up with friends at Disney Springs: Our first full day in Florida, we wanted to have a more relaxing day, since we knew the following two days would be spent at Universal Studios. We did a little outlet shopping and then met up with friends at Disney Springs. It was really nice seeing our friends Nate and Sun who had recently moved from Massachusetts to Ocala, FL for work.
Bern's Steakhouse: This steakhouse is a special one to our family. Not only is the food incredible, but it is a place my dad used to go with his parents. It's in Tampa, so it was definitely a drive from Orlando, but it was worth it. The steaks are always excellent, they make the Caesar salad table-side and they have a separate dessert room upstairs where they make Bananas Foster in front of you!
Kabooki Sushi: One of my favorite restaurants in Florida is Kabooki Sushi. They have incredibly fresh fish and everything I've ever had there has been outstanding, including the desserts. The atmosphere is casual, which was just what we wanted after the fancier feel of Bern's Steakhouse the night before.

Universal Studios: We lucked out at Universal with short lines and perfect weather. We walked almost 20,000 steps a day exploring the park and going on rides. Since we had last been there three years ago, there was a new King Kong ride that had incredible special effects. It's always impressive to walk through the Wizarding World of Harry Potter too!

Winter Park Boat Ride: On our last day in Florida, we left the park a little early to head over to Winter Park, an adorable town near Orlando. We lucked out and ended up on a private boat tour of the lakes surrounding Winter Park. Our tour guide was phenomenal and we learned some interesting history about the area and saw some beautiful architecture in the homes surrounding the lakes. If you find yourself in the area, I definitely recommend the boat tour!
